Glen Marr HOA Fall 2017 Meeting Minutes 10/28/2017
Meeting was called to order.
Treasurer’s Report:
Since the Spring meeting, 3 more HOA dues were collected, and a total of $412.98 was made at the June Yard sale.
Disbursements from the general fund totaled $147.28, and disbursements from the Dock fund totaled $493.19.
Check book balance is: $8,665.30 which includes
Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report – all in favor, none opposed.
Old Business:
None. Motion to accept the minutes from the Spring meeting – all in favor, none opposed.
New Business:
Tim mentioned the email that was sent out about the suspicious van in the neighborhood, which Jody reported had legitimate business, but keeping an eye on the neighborhood for suspicious activity is great and we need to look out for each other.
The Drug and Rehab center the Bluffs, is now up and running. There have been reports by some nearby residents of patients walking through their yard but they were not causing any harm. The Sherriff’s department was contacted and according to the Bluffs, patients are free to come and go, and the Bluffs does not go out looking for those who walk away. This issue is causing the Bluffs and the Sherriff department to be at odds.
Dock removal: - Frank Alleshouse called a motion to leave the docks in the water. Removing the gang planks, and tying the docks together in the water/tethering to a tree would cause much less damage to the barrels, and the docks themselves that is caused by dragging them onto the shore, would prevent people from gaining access to them reducing the possibility of vandalism or injury, and would be much easier on boat owners, who are not getting younger. Sharon recalled how last winter the docks were turned upside-down which could have caused rotting had Monte not noticed.
There is also the added expense of upkeep to equipment used to remove the docks, i.e., tractor parts, that would no longer be a factor.
Also, in the event of flooding, there are enough people who live at Glen Marr year round that can and do check on the docks on a regular basis in the winter, like Frank and Nancy. They will keep an eye on things as the winter thaw begins and damage could be prevented by early intervention.
Tim will try to gauge how the new guy at MWCD feels about this, without directly stating that we are thinking of doing this.
Chris Sprague states that Paradise point had a mix of floating and stationary docks and they left the docks in each winter.
Arthur Wilson stated that in 2008 and 2011 the docks came off the top poles because of flooding but others stated that a stop collar would only tear out the poles so the solution may be to follow the directive of the East Docks which are tethered together and tied to a tree.
It was agreed that we would not have a formal motion on this issue, but we will hold the Spring HOA meeting before the dock install and discuss this issue and hopefully come to a decision.
Vandalism: - Both the Nauman’s and the Aldergate’s boats were cut loose this summer. Keith reported theirs was cut 2 times. Frank and Nancy’s boat was unhooked (just one hook) a couple of times, and fishing poles were moved inside of the boat. It could be that someone was using the boat to fish on.
Buoy: - the MWCD took back their buoy but denied it when Russ Bohaty called to inquire. Several days later, the buoy (no wake buoy) was green tagged with a note that said if it was moved again, the President of Glen Marr would be cited.
Tim said the MWCD is marking all of their buoys now.
Tree removal: - Frank said there are 2 trees near the docks that are about to fall over, and if they do, they will fall on and damage a couple of boats. Tim and Frank will take pictures/mark the trees with caution tape and report it to the MWCD for removal.
Other: - Chris Sprague wants homeowners to be cautious while driving on roads in our allotment. Many people drive much faster than the posted 15 mph and there are kids playing, people walking dogs, etc.
Lisa Nauman suggested that we split up the dock install/removal day from the HOA meetings since it is not always easy to gauge when the docks will be done, and people show up for a meeting that hasn’t started yet.
Sharon will send out an email to all homeowners sometime in late winter with three possible dates for the meeting and ask for preferences. It is anticipated that the meeting will be held sometime between late March to mid-April.
Congrats go out to Monte and Joyce Fox who are new grandparents times 2!
Prayers for Wilda Wilson who was in the hospital in mid-October and is now in a rehabilitation Center. Get well soon Wilda!
Motion to adjourn was accepted by all.
Have a great Fall/Holiday/Winter Season all – see you in the Spring!
